PGA PRO AND TV HOST JIMMY HANLIN PARTICIPATING IN BEACON ORTHOPAEDICS & SPORTS MEDICINE’S GOLF OUTING

Proceeds benefit Beacon research and education foundation

CINCINNATI – Professional Golf Association pro Jimmy Hanlin – co-host of the popular golf show 18 Holes on Bally Sports – is participating in this year’s Beacon Orthopaedics Research & Education Foundation, Inc., 10th Annual Golf Outing, which is scheduled for July 25th at Kenwood Country Club.

In addition to playing in the outing along with two of his co-hosts – Alexandra O’Laughlin and Claire Hogle – Hanlin also plans to tape a segment of his Swing Clinic program with four physicians from Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, which is a sponsor of Hanlin’s programs.

“We are extremely excited to be participating with Beacon in this year’s golf outing,” said Hanlin, an Ohio native who owns two Cleveland-area golf courses– Little Mountain Country Club and StoneWater Golf Club. “We have a good relationship with Beacon and Dr. Tim Kremchek, and we are looking forward to taping a segment of Swing Clinic with him and some of his colleagues.”

Hanlin’s golf programs and the Cincinnati Reds games are broadcast by Bally Sports. Dr. Kremchek, Beacon orthopaedic surgeon, has served as the Reds Medical Director for 26 years.

“I’ve spent time in Cincinnati, promoting the show, going to the Cincinnati Reds opener and playing golf in the area,” Hanlin said. “I’ve gotten to know Dr. Kremchek, and so we’re going to have a great show that we will tape the day before the outing. During the show we are going to be talking about health tips that can help golfers avoid or overcome injuries and some other good information. And I’m sure we are going to have a great time.”

Dr. Kremchek, an avid golfer, said he is “thrilled” that Hanlin and his team are part of this year’s Beacon golf outing.

“Jimmy is not only an outstanding golfer, he’s also a great guy,” Dr. Kremchek said. “We are going to have a great time doing the show and playing in the outing, but Jimmy also knows how much good we are doing with the funds we raise at the outing and we appreciate his support.”

Proceeds from the golf outing benefit The Beacon Orthopaedic & Education Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports scientific and research as well as the education of orthopaedic medicine and procedures. Students from area high schools and colleges are among those who utilize the Foundation’s educational programs and opportunities.

“The Foundation helps a variety of individuals throughout medicine, whether it’s current physicians within the practice, our fellows who are currently involved in our Fellowship program and even our high school and college students who attend educational labs at our facility in our BioSkills lab,” said Kim McBride, Beacon’s manager of corporate outreach. “Additionally, within our program, current vendors are able to work with our physicians and fellows in our BioSkills lab to test out new products and procedures in the hopes of providing patients with the best possible outcome.”

Xavier University Associate Professor Tina Davlin-Pater, director of the school’s Athletic Program, said Xavier students studying to be athletic trainers received an exceptional hands-on learning experience through the Foundation that is engaging and impactful.

The students work closely with Beacon’s Robert Burger, M.D., who has served as the Medical Director and Head Team Physician for Xavier University athletics for 23 years.

“The focus of the BioSkills lab was on the knee. Students learned more about the muscles, ligaments, nerves and other important structures in the knee,” Dr. Davlin-Pater said. “Dr. Burger and his amazing crew taught students about injuries and interventions as they dissected the knee. Students also learned more about arthroscopic surgery. I am so grateful for my students to have this opportunity.”
