REDS PITCHER TEJAY ANTONE TREATED BY BEACON’S DR. TIM KREMCHEK
September 5, 2023
Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine’s Tim Kremchek, M.D., was especially excited as he watched the Cincinnati Reds play the Seattle Mariners Sunday afternoon at Great American Ball Park.
That’s because Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Teejay Antone was a patient.
Dr. Kremchek twice repaired Antone’s elbow with Tommy John surgery in 2017 and again in 2021.
“It feels great sitting here and seeing Tejay on the mound for the Reds,” Dr. Kremchek said. “It’s one those of ‘feel good’ stories. Here is a young guy who twice worried about his career being over, and we were able to get where he is today – pitching for the Reds in front of the hometown crowd.”
Antone pitched two scoreless innings. He gave up no hits and struck out three.
“I have full trust in Dr. Kremchek and his team to get me back even better this time,” Antone tweeted just prior to his second surgery. “Life is bigger than one person’s career. My hope through this whole thing is to inspire others.”
“Thank you to the Reds for taking care of me through this rocky road,” Antone also tweeted. “And to my teammates, your love and support is unmatched. I will be back from this. Save this tweet.”
A founding member of Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Cincinnati, Dr. Kremchek served as the Cincinnati Reds team doctor for more than 25 years and has performed Tommy John procedures of hundreds of professional, college, high school and amateur athletes.
