CINCINNATI, OhioBeacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and the Mason City Schools are advancing the care and training of high school athletes by creating the region’s first on-campus sports medicine and physical therapy facility.

In partnership with TriHealth, Beacon and Mason schools have announced a partnership that includes an office building and physical therapy department on the campus of Mason High School. The new facility will provide athletes and teams with sports medicine care, strength and conditioning and athletic trainer services. The address for the new location is 4859 Nixon Park Dr.
Mason, Ohio 45040.

“This will be like nothing else in the state or even the country with regards to high school campuses,” said Mason City Schools Medical Director Andrew Razzano, MD, a Beacon board-certified and fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who lives in Mason. “Beacon is the leader in comprehensive orthopaedic and sports medicine care of high school teams and athletes, and our relationship will create a truly unique and elite campus at Mason.”

The on-campus facility at Mason High School – which has the largest enrollment of any public high school in Ohio – will include an orthopaedic surgeon’s office with onsite physical therapy services. A strength and conditioning coach and three athletic trainers will also be on site to care for the school’s teams and athletes. “Having Dr. Razzano and all that Beacon has to offer right here and fully accessible to our teams and athletes will make us an elite campus,” said Mason High School Varsity Football Coach Brian Castner. “We’ve never had alignment with a medical provider like this before. This is a boost to our entire athletic program.”

Coach Castner estimates the medical facility will be ready to provide care and services to Mason’s teams in time for the start of the fall sports season.

As the school’s medical director, Dr. Razzano has provided care to Mason athletes and teams for the past five years. He also treats and cares for members of the Cincinnati Reds and that team’s minor league affiliates.

“Dr. Razzano has been taking care of our teams for a few years now,” Coach Castner said. “He is a tremendous doctor. He knows our program and on top of that, he is the Reds’ team doctor. So he is an absolute expert when it comes to sports medicine.”

Beacon is recognized as the region’s leader in caring for high school athletes, providing medical directors and coverage for more than 35 local high schools.
