Beacon Orthopaedics adds 7 physicians and 4 locations

On Aug. 1, Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine expanded both its care team and its area locations. This larger group creates increased patient access to orthopedic care, physical therapy and MRIs.
“We’re bringing on seven additional physicians who practice in Montgomery, Fairfield and South Lebanon,” said Andy Blankemeyer, CEO of Beacon. “These are long-standing physicians in the community, and they’re full service. It also increases our capacity to provide care to patients who are looking to come to Beacon for a superior level of service.”
In addition to six new surgeons, Beacon has added a primary care physician, plus the doctors’ team members and four new office locations.
“It allows us to expand Beacon and extend our footprint into new markets, including Fairfield and South Lebanon,” Blankemeyer said. “We see a lot of patients from those areas. Now, rather than driving down to our nearest office in Sharonville, they can receive care right in their backyard.”
The physicians who recently joined the group have been interested in Beacon for some time, both for its reputation and its business model.
“Beacon is such a strong name in the community and the region,” said Dr. Matthew Langenderfer, one of the new surgeons. “It’s a very large, well-ranked group with lots of offices, plus very efficient and successful surgery centers. The costs are low, and the quality is high.”
Langenderfer and his colleagues aim to transition their existing patients smoothly into the Beacon system. They’ll continue to work with their existing physicians at the same locations. Some patients may even see cost savings from improved economies of scale.
“Ultimately, we want to make this the most effective and efficient thing for our patients as possible — providing the best care at the least cost,” Langenderfer said. “Beacon has really mastered that.”
Beacon’s team members are excited about having expanded their physician network to 34 doctors and 13 locations, and the benefits that will provide to patients.
“The most important thing is that these individuals are all at the top of their game,” said Dr. Peter Cha, president of Beacon and an orthopedic surgeon. “They provide the highest level of orthopedic care and really function on the three basic tenets on which we built our platform: quality, access and value.”
Physicians in both groups have known one another for many years — and in some cases trained together at the same university.
“The combination of our groups has been a long time coming,” said Dr. Timothy Kremchek, an orthopedic surgeon at Beacon and the medical director of the Cincinnati Reds. “This is really a merging of cultures of surgeons who are like-minded individuals. Numerous physicians in our group have known each other and been very collegial for decades. I’ve known these guys forever, and I’m so happy that it’s finally come to fruition.”
“Our patients will find that it’s going to be a good experience for them,” Langenderfer said. “I think we’re making something very good even stronger.”
