CINCINNATI, OH – March 19, 2026 — Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine recognizes Dr. Timothy Kremchek’s 30th season as Team Physician for the Cincinnati Reds, marking three decades of exceptional service, leadership and dedication to the game for one of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) most historic franchises. Since beginning his tenure with the Reds in 1996, Dr. Kremchek has treated and rehabilitated generations of players at every stage of their careers.
“It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve as team physician for the Cincinnati Reds, and for the relationships I’ve built with players and staff,” said Dr. Kremchek. “Growing up in Cincinnati, I’ve always felt a deep connection to this team and this community. Being part of the Reds organization was always my dream. At the heart of it all is caring for the players, ensuring they remain healthy, supporting them through injuries and helping them get back on the field where they belong,” he continued.
A Legacy of Commitment to Reds Players
Dr. Kremchek has built a reputation for accessibility, trust and comprehensive care. From Spring Training to Opening Day, throughout the regular season and into the offseason, he has provided ongoing medical support, ensuring players receive immediate treatment while prioritizing their long-term health. Widely recognized for his expertise in sports medicine, his work with complex elbow injuries, particularly Tommy John surgery, has helped extend careers and return Reds players to Major League competition. “We are grateful to Dr. Kremchek and the entire Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine team for the care and commitment they’ve provided to our players over the last thirty years. We truly couldn’t do what we do without them,” noted Phil Castellini, Cincinnati Reds Principal Owner, President & CEO.
- Homer Bailey: After suffering a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow, the two-time Reds no-hit pitcher underwent Tommy John surgery in 2015, ending his season. After more than a year of rehabilitation, Bailey returned to the mound for the Reds after what could have been a career-ending injury.
- Hunter Greene: The Reds All-Star pitcher suffered a torn UCL early in his professional career and underwent Tommy John surgery in 2019. After a long rehabilitation period, Greene returned to the mound, eventually debuting in the majors and becoming an MLB All-Star in 2024. In 2026, Greene again turned to Dr. Kremchek for evaluation after experiencing elbow discomfort during spring training.
- Tejay Antone: The Reds reliever has undergone three major elbow surgeries, all performed by Dr. Kremchek. Even after multiple ligament reconstructions, Antone continued his comeback attempts and returned to pitch for the Reds.
“Dr. Kremchek exemplifies Beacon’s mission of delivering world-class orthopaedic care,” said Eric Stiene, Beacon Orthopaedics Executive Director. “His leadership has positioned the Reds at the forefront of athlete care while strengthening Cincinnati’s reputation as a center for sports medicine excellence. He’s extended that same level of elite care to the broader community, treating professional athletes, collegiate competitors and everyday patients with the same precision, expertise and attention,” he continued.
A Cincinnati Opening Day Tradition
This year, Dr. Kremchek will be recognized during one of Cincinnati’s most celebrated traditions – the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade. His participation in the Cincinnati Reds unit highlights his deep connection to the organization, the city and generations of fans. The parade begins at noon on Thursday, March 26 at Findlay Market on Race Street.
Over his career, Dr. Kremchek has become one of baseball’s most recognized orthopedic surgeons, performing more than 3,000 Tommy John procedures and treating players across many MLB organizations. As he marks this 30-year milestone, Dr. Kremchek remains focused on continuing to advance sports medicine innovation while supporting the Reds’ pursuit of excellence on the field.
