CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Bengals fans are collectively holding their breath while waiting to find out the severity of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s knee injury. Dr. Peter Cha, an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Specialist and President of Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, said the injury was a result of multiple factors.

“It was the perfect storm,” said Dr. Cha. “Putting all his weight onto that left knee and then gets hit high and then is posted low, so it was the perfect storm for a significant knee injury.”

Burrow was diagnosed with a torn ACL. However, reports say more damage to Burrow’s knee may be discovered over the coming days.

Dr. Cha believes, with the advances the sports medicine field has made over the years, Burrow will someday be able to once again return to the field and play at a high level.

“I feel very confident with the advances that we have with treating these athletic sports-related injuries,” said Dr. Cha. “I feel fairly confident he’ll be back playing at the level he was prior.”
