“Rory McIlroy battled through a weekend of back pain to lose in a playoff during a recent golf event. He considered pulling out of the tournament but was able to battle through the pain using medication, stretching exercises, and medication. He is scheduled to undergo further testing to make sure his injury is not more serious that will prevent him from playing in the next tournament. The reason for the MRI is to make sure that he did not structurally damage his back and make sure he can continue to play.
In order to prevent back injuries in your golf game, it is important to make sure that your properly stretch before and after you play. This includes stretching of your core muscles and also make sure that your hamstrings are lose. It is important to be proactive in your treatment so that the back pain does not linger of affect the outcome of your game. In addition, proper technique with the strokes and properly fitting equipment is important to prevent back injuries and pain.”
