Beacon Receives MGMA Better Performer Award

The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Performance and Practices of Successful Medical Groups identified Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine as a Better Performer. The 2010 report is based on data collected during 2009.  It compares operational performance with similar medical group practices nationwide.  Beacon has been named a Better Performer due to superior performance for a second consecutive year.

Glen Prasser, Beacon’s CEO, expressed his feelings, “We are honored to receive this recognition. Operational excellence is important to not only our practice from a financial point of view, but it is especially important to our patients. We understand that everyone’s time is very valuable and we are committed to ensuring that each person who visits us receives prompt and efficient professional care.”

For over a decade, the MGMA report has been a benchmarking standard among medical groups.  The report profiles medical practices that have demonstrated success in various competencies. These include: patient satisfaction, productivity, capacity and staffing, cost management, profitability, accounts receivable and collections, and managed care operations.

The results are generated using data from respondents to the MGMA Cost Survey (2010 Reports Based on 2009 Data), in addition to questionnaire responses that assessed practices and procedures, as well as management behaviors.  This aggregated data was used to determine the Better Performers.
